It's a pleasure to meet you!
My name is Alicia Davis, and I work in the Financial Aid department at Sul Ross State University. I work as a financial aid counselor. My job is to assist students and their families in navigating the complicated process of applying for financial aid. My goal is to review reports accurately and carry out many other processes correctly in order to award financial aid in accordance with federal regulations.
I have four years of elementary teaching experience in 1st grade, teaching all subjects. I enjoyed sharing my knowledge with the children, but I found myself over-committing, overwhelmed, and exhausted. My health deteriorated, and I realized that perhaps I was not meant to carry such a heavy load, and I decided that I needed to make a change in order to be the best version of myself for myself and my family.
I decided to take a different, simpler path. A route for which I am responsible begins at 8 a.m. and ends at 5 p.m. Nowadays, I teach students and parents about financial aid. When I'm not teaching students or parents, I'm teaching myself and my collegues who need assistance with certain processes. Another of my goals is to develop an electronic manual or knowledge management tool in teams so that our department can share information and ideas.
I've decided to pursue a Master of Education in Educational Instructional Technology in the hopes of expanding my opportunities as a media specialist and making financial aid more accessible to all.
